We here at OAPS know that finding the perfect pet sitter can be stressful and a little nerve-racking. It’s our goal to eliminate this stress by providing you ways to ensure you find the right sitter!
Always reach out to multiple sitters.
When you reach out to multiple sitters, you are offering yourself more options to finding the sitter that best fits your family’s needs, budget and schedule. You are also providing yourself with extra backup in the event that your primary sitter is unavailable.
Always do a meet & greet with any possible sitter.
Whether you are boarding or having a sitter come into your home, a meet and greet should always take place prior to booking your sitter. This provides you an opportunity to get to know your sitter and allow them to interact with your pets. It also provides you the opportunity to conduct your interview and allows your sitter to explain their business in person. All OAPS sitters should be subject to meet & greet interviews. It is then that they can provide you with references and any other information that you request.
Always be transparent and communicative.
No matter what your pets’ behaviors, schedules, special needs, etc are – it is important that you are always transparent about what skillset you are requesting of your sitter. It is also important that both you and your sitter are in regular communication. Make sure when you are reaching out to potential sitters that you are thorough in the details of the services you are looking for.
Always ask questions!
Asking questions to your sitter will better prepare you for what to expect during your absence. By clarifying details in advance, you can ensure that both you and your sitter are on the same page regarding your needs and expectations. This proactive approach will help create a smoother experience and provide peace of mind while you are away.
