Inside a Professional Pet Sitter Conference: A NAPPS Experience

Have you ever wondered what goes on at Professional Pet Sitter Conferences?

I’m here to tell you exactly what that experience is like! This year, the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) conference was held in beautiful Tempe, Arizona. This was the second time attending this specific conference and it’s safe to say that each conference is better than the last.

When attending a conference, it can be incredibly overwhelming - especially if you’re going alone. NAPPS always works tirelessly throughout the year to plan and organize each annual conference. They bring out the best of the best in the pet sitting industry from all over the country to provide top notch education for an entire weekend.

The connections made at these types of events can lead to the most valuable relationships for your pet sitting business. I’ve officially lost count of the amazing colleagues that I have connected with all across the country. Many of these connections have also turned into some of my closest friendships.

The educational opportunities provide you the vast knowledge to continue to grow and expand your business. The educators that are brought in for these conferences have spent their time and knowledge to create excellent hour long sessions for sitters to grow and learn from.

This year was a bit different though! This year, Midwest Pet Sitter Affiliates was invited to be one of those amazing educators and help guide pet sitters from all across the country. We worked to educate them on the importance of rallying around their own community and using that to their advantage, creating connections and helping their business grow with other small businesses.

This year, I walked away with double the connections I made last year. The fun part of these conferences is that everyone is at a different point in their business venture. Some sitters have been in business for 20+ years, while others are just getting started and prioritizing their education as their business gets off the ground.

The Best Thing

My favorite part about all of these conferences has been the way you are welcomed with open arms by everyone in the room. By the time you leave on day 3, it’s almost hard to know that you won’t see them all the next day.

If you’re ever contemplating attending one of these conferences - do it!

It’s always so fun, educational and worth your time.

Next year's conference for NAPPS will be hosted in North Carolina!
